You can put Electric Shrink wrap on them to avoid scratching :ant:
I was thinking just wrapping them in electrical tape (works on my 17mm long wheel bolt socket). :D

Someone on here used to make them, I had a pair for the Z but one snapped and I binned the other one.
Well I didn’t ..very useful..I’ll try on the Zed but may get a set for the Volvo..the main issue is with the Zed and the spacers..trying to get the wheel on with a 5mm spacer is areal pin..I use a pair of pin nosed pliers as a centre device for a thread hole..but holding that whilst balancing the wheel and then trying to get a bolt started without cross threading is vexing..
We choose to go to on with this endeavour at this time and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard…

I used to use the tip of my pinky through the bolt hole in the wheel to stop the spacer from turning. It works well, but you only have two chances for it to go horribly wrong before you need to find a new technique!

Because I swap between winter and summer tyres on my 3 Series I bought one from Machine Monkey.

But to be honest one doesn't help much so maybe I need to buy a pair of them!

To be honest after 5 years with my 330i I wish I had had studs fitted so I'd only need to slam the wheels on then wind nuts on!

Whoever thought wheel bolts were a good idea? :?

Two pages dedicated to threaded toothbrushes!

This forum is NO fun anymore. :(

I wish we had a new pandemic; the Covid threads were great! :poke:

Wheel studs are great; they make swapping wheels really easy. I'd just recommend caution though. When I go in to tire shops to get new tires fitted, I have to bring them dismounted. Wheels and tires only. As my car has a "wheel stud conversion" which is not what the car came with, they will not touch my Z4 (this is in the USA so ymmv).

I also just diluted my Gtechniq APC at a 5:1 ratio and about to excitedly go out and scrub the little greeny bits off my roof, again, excitement levels at an all time high ...
