Dealer Thinks this car will be worth 250k in a decade, whats peoples thoughts? id NEVER buy a car to be a collectors item but the idea of it being a increasing in value asset does seem rather satisfying.
I can't see them hitting the kind of figure the dealer is suggesting. They are not a limited run car and Porsche appear to be churning them out pretty quickly with the production run lasting into 2025.
Current:
718 Cayman GTS 4.0 (PDK)

i think it will go up in time, its pretty much the last of this type of vehicle really but i'm not sure by that much..... they don't seem to be as popular as they'd hoped, ive got the auto trader tracker and they are ALL dropping and are now back at list. Too extreme for most maybe? the softer spyder is sky high and seems to be better received for being softer.

No Cayman goes up in the long term, speculators might increase short term values but it is not that sort of car.

It retains it better than a Boxster (82% versus 74%) but nowhere near 911 percentage wise (92%) over a 5 year term.
Current:
911-50 Black - unique spec
X5M - 575 hp of fun in a V8
Abarth 595 Comp.
Golf Clipper - collectors item
Z4 3.0si Black Sapphire
VW ID.3

Previous:
Z4M Silver Grey - non flimper spec (gone to Bing)
Z4 3.0 Toledo

This is new territory however with the RS line up in the 718 model line... the 718 GT4 residuals seems solid BUT admittedly the 4RS is dropping quite quickly back to list ( which is why i'm even able to look at this , the bursting porsche bubble is extremely well timed) dealer reckons a drop will be coming for these for 18 months meaning people like myself have a way into a nearly new RS product that was once invite only and very scarce.

I can't see how in a years time the GT4RS and the Spyder won't both be worth exactly the same money

Huge congratulations on getting to be in this position 8)

Personally, I’m a big fan of the ruby colour but it might be worth waiting for an interesting PTS one to come up. Not sure I have the same love for the RS spyder, it’s a cool car, obviously, but that roof is just ridiculous. The standard spyder makes more sense to me, at least from the perspective of being a car that you’d actually use.

Regarding keeping the M, if you can why not. On the other hand, would you ever use it with a GT4 RS parked next to it?

Personally I wouldn’t be doing anything right now, sit and see how prices fare this summer as I’m not sure these GT4 Spyders are selling, I’m pretty sure one of the first ones to become available still isn’t sold, wether that’s the state and uncertainty of the country right now, or folk are simply not willing to line someone else’s pocket to that extent for a very breathed upon Boxster when that kind of money will get you some pretty tasty metal elsewhere. I’m probably 99.9% wrong but I reckon the Spyder will drop to £150-170k by winter so around the build price plus £10-20k on top.

Never mind the future value or the “not a proper Porsche” or “poor man’s Porsche” rubbish. Using that logic, a Z4 isn’t a “proper Z” because it isn’t a Z8 and nobody would buy a car in case the value dropped in future.

After what you have been through health wise, plus the success you have earned through your business, you deserve to focus on whatever makes you smile when you look in the garage or turn the key in the ignition, whatever you decide to do.

Wow, if you can then you should.

I like to think I have a good job and financially stable but I will never ever own a car in that price range.

Good luck to you.

My house only cost a few grand more than that about 17 years ago

Beedub wrote: Sun Apr 14, 2024 12:52 pm Pondrew - the GT3 is just HUGE its grown into a LARGE car and for me the cayman is the sweet spot, i have to be honest im not fussed if its viewed as a poor mans 911 as im doing this one for me and the people in the know, will know what a 4RS is.... To me the GT4 RS is much more special and likely the ONLY modern RS product i will be able to afford in a much better mid engined driving package but still have the GT3 engine. Admittedly the GT4 RS simply doesn't look as good and well proportioned as a gt3, its a special and cool looking thing but is almost a lil OTT and somehow a touch unclassy, but i like the ridiculousness of it.
Fair enough.

Find the right one for you and go for it Byron. It sounds like it's going to be a halo product for your business as well as a whole load of fun. If you can, keep the ///M though. It's a one off and the best example I for one have ever seen. 8)

If you look at the used values of a Boxster or Cayman (Boxster Coupe) against a 911 of the same age, I think you will find the majority of the Porsche buying public agree with me. :scratchhead:

Porsche have made many models over the last 60 years. Only one is still made today. The original one. Therefore a 911 is a 'proper Porsche'. Simple.

The Cayman and Boxster were introduced to cater for a demand for a 'cheaper' Porsche sportscar.

Porsche we’re heading towards imminent bankruptcy before the BOXSTER saved them…the 911 couldn’t do it as they’re shite… :poke:
