X3 2.0d Msport (2005) - Father just bought one..

Post by Beancounter1980 » Tue Aug 03, 2010 7:36 pm

He literally bought it on a whim! There and then..

Do these have major problems? A big worry for me is that his turbo will go and he will be landed with a large bill.

The engine is the 150bhp one. The one where hundreds of turbos would blow without warning. Anyone know a decent warranty that covers Turbo's?

RAC or AA anygood? Thanks

Also worth removing the swirl flaps according to Total BMW mag otherwise if they let go big engine bill.

Swirl flap only on the old engines (up to 2004 I think).

The turbo issue is generally brought on due to congested oil pipes, so important to change oil at the correct interval and also after a long trip, let the turbo cool down prior to just switching off the engine.

It's a 150bhp so will have the swirl flaps IIRC.
