Post by IK. » Thu Sep 02, 2010 8:05 pm

Would I regret buying one after my Z4?

E60? I had 523i Sport and I think it was great car. You won't regret (if you need more space).
Current BMW: 640d Gran Coupe M Sport (F06), 118d SE (F20).
Previous BMW: Z4 sDrive23i M Sport (E89), 318i Sport (F30), 120d SE (F20), Z4 2.5i Sport Roadster (E85), 523i Sport (E60), 323Ci (E46), 523i SE (E39), 318i (E36).

I don't need the space, but for the price, it does seem very good value.

Just worried I might miss having a sports car... That said, I had an Astra VXR before, which wasn't exactly sporty.

E60 is no sport cars then. It is just a big fast and comfortable saloon with good handling. It will not give you the excitement that Zed offers. This was why I moved from E60 to E85, then E89. E89 is somewhere between E60 and E85 (a perfect compromise).
Current BMW: 640d Gran Coupe M Sport (F06), 118d SE (F20).

IK: Sorry mate, but it`ll seem like a barge after the Z4. Don`t get me wrong, it`s BMW, and will be a VERY nice, comfortable cruiser, but unless it`s an M5 you want, it will not give you the same sportscar feel that the Zed will.

Sorry bud, just my tuppenysworth !

I was looking at getting a 330i or 330d M Sport but just could not bring myself to do it, my wife also helped by talking me into keeping the Z4.

I went from an E85 (2.2i SE) to the E92 when it was launched (325i SE) and as said above, it was a terrific, elegant, comfortable, sensible and cruiser type of a car (typical Beemer-ness), but it just wasn't *special*. This was why I was keen to get back into the Z4 (E89) which is a sort-of compromise. :? :D

E89 is too expensive, else I'd definitely have one. The 530i I'm looking at is £11k, and I sold my old car for over £17k.

£11K? How old is the 530i? I have just looked at some AUC, reasonable cars are around £20k.
