buy and sell forum
I've been trawling through the B&S forum for a few days now, looking for things to spend money on (as you do )
and I've come up with a suggestion / improvement for it:
Would it be possible to split the forums as follows:
Buy and Sell
|-Wanted
| |- Cars Wanted
| |- Parts Wanted
| |- Other Wanted
|-Selling
| |- Cars For Sale
| |- Parts For Sale
| |- Other For Sale
|-Sold
I believe this way, you'll be able to see things you want a lot clear, and with the addition of the "Sold" forum, it would make seeing what is still for sale, and what isn't much, much easier!
Obviously, it would require a moderator to watch these forums and move the ads to sold etc once they are sold, for which I don't mind volunteering for.
But I believe the little extra time needed for doing this, is worth it to make the buy and sell forum much more usuable (imo )

Re: buy and sell forum
Agreed, it does sound like a good idea. It has been mentioned before, it just slipped my mind, had a lot on these last few months. I am away for a week but will implement this solution when I get back
Thanks sk93, and thanks to srhutch for mentioning it in the first place... sorry, I've been a bit slack recently.

Re: buy and sell forum
Just an opposing view (no offence intended sk93) but I'm not a fan of forums where there are lots and lots of subforums within the site. In my opinion it makes it harder for general browsing of the forum (although I do acknowledge it would make it easier - at times - where you're searching for a part in particular.
If a split is going to happen, then parhaps keeping it as:
Selling:
- cars
- parts/other
Wanted:
- cars, parts and other (I don't see this being a forum used much)
Regarding "sold" stuff, is it asking too much that once an item is sold/no longer for sale, that the original poster edits their thread title and adds "SOLD" into it? They could then even lock the thread themselves to avoid it being bumped back up ever in future. That's what happens on another forum I used to moderate and it worked very well. This puts less pressure on the mods too...
Finally, given the international nature of this forum, it would be useful if folk could put "FS (UK): 108 wheels" or "FS (US): 107 wheels" etc to make it easier to find stuff in your country.
Just suggestions, feel free to ridicule them

Good suggestions here, and very welcome. Like I said, I am away for a week so I will let this one run and implement whatever is decided when I return.

Re: buy and sell forum
a11y there are already sub sections in the "How To" section so I would see it as an extension of this and believe it will make it easier to see what is for sale.

buy and sell forum
I think a seperate section for cars for sale would be good.
Re: buy and sell forum
Adding my tuppece worth.
People who join the forum just to sell I'm sure most will agree is simply annoying, Would it be possible to block anyone with less than "X" number of posts from posting in the section, Appreciate that this may have an impact from people wanting to buy stuff if they are new but they would be able to PM the seller.
Just a thought as there seems to be a fair amount of them recently.
