M5 just to clarify my last post was in reference to the front firewall braces as paul stated these will fail given time, I was just trying to get across that are many stock well used examples that have not failed, and i think its unfair to the z4 owners to state they WILL fail, my posts are being typed via iPad, so please excuse my poor responses and unclear responses.

Two replies contained here. First, there will be exceptions to the OEM firewall braces cracking at the mounting point at the shock towers, especially if the vehicle has some sort of effective front shock tower brace installed that reduces shock tower flexing and therefore less stress on the OEM FW braces. We have received a LOT of input on this from customers who subsequently purchased either our FW braces separately or the entire front Strong-Strut assembly. There are probably a number of fractured OEM FW braces out there unknown to the owners who would otherwise have no reason to examine their cars for this flaw, not knowing about it.

To the gent with the failed welding on the Ireland Engineering front brace on his M5, I commented earlier that when executed PROPERLY, a weld is generally stronger then the adjacent material it is welded to. Apparently it was a bad weld job on that accessory and I have no other knowledge or experience with that brand of strut brace. One important technique in welding is to get the proper penetration of the rod being used into the material being welded, just laying a welding bead on top of the material being welded is insufficient. The shop owner where our accessories are welded is owned by a welding engineer and the shop is certified by the FAA to weld on commercial aircraft, they are quite professional. With regard to warranty policy, we at Strong-Strut have a 100% satisfaction guarantee, no questions asked, we even pay for shipping in both direstions, without agrument, and promptly. Fortunately, in 13 years of business we have had only one return, a gent in Canada with e36 ///M and the Strong-Strut wouldn't fit.............we later discovered the vehicle had been in a hard front and accident and apparently did not go back together according to factory specs. Best wishes, Paul & the Strong-Strut Team

Hi Paul at String Strut,

Heard about your Z4M rear strut from CA-Auto. I have a thread going on here about my Stage 3 Mods where I have addressed the chassis of the Z4M with Nitron coil overs and Ground control anti roll bars & other stuff. Very interested in getting one of those struts to up grade the rear.
