The standard mode is already too aggressive in my opinion.

It's snake oil as others said, the map is identical, it doesn't even make it more drivable. It just adjusts input sensitivity, it can make heal and toe easier though. But I've learnt to be a bit more direct on the standard position, which required a bit more focus initially

Re: M Sport Button
Why? To ask why the button doesn't do more? It changes the input required on the throttle for the throttle position at the engine end.ChawenHalo wrote:I wish we had an M engineer on this forum.
In normal mode you press the peddle down 20% you get 20% throttle, all the way up to 100% pressed gives you 100%.
With Sport button on you press the peddle 20% you get 30% throttle, 40% gives you 70%, 50% gives you 100%. - all numbers are for illustration etc, this isn't actual figures etc.
It does not change steering (we don't have elec steering on M), it doesn't change dampers (we have normal simple oil filled dampers), it doesn't change ESP (you can always get some slip with TC on), it doesn't change gear change speed (we have a stick) - it's only there because the marketing boys asked for it!
I have never seen anything (from an official source) that says otherwise.

Re: M Sport Button
On my M3 all it did is change the throttle response to a linear response from a learned curve response, ( The car jumps if you are on the gas when you press the button) and it increases the fun factor by 2x.
Sold the Z4 M Roadster and a 911 Carrera S now I have a 2021 Z4 3.0i

Absolutely! Out of sport mode, the throttle does almost nothing for the initial part of its travel.Aliv6 wrote:I use it everyday! BMW's throttle response is horrific!!!!!

In my E46 M3, I found the M switch much too sensitive for daily use, although it was pefect on the track.
it was great when letting friends drive it! They were invarably like, Man! this thing has soo much power!!

Keep your knickers on. To ask why put a useless button in an otherwise pretty uncompromising car. Would have made sense to hold off the ESP further/ change engine mapping etc.MyNamesNotBob wrote:Why? Re: M Sport Button
Same here... When pressing the sport button nothing happens. When I release the throttle and press it again I feel a small difference is throttle response (that's it).mmm-five wrote:I never get that, and have to release the throttle slightly and reapply to get any effect.Adam D wrote:Yeah hold a constant throttle on and press it... might get a bit of acceleration as it magnifies the input from the throttle to be less proportional.
However when I switch off the sport mode the engine revs drop instantly and the car slows slightly.
