Detailing White Paint

Post by cj10jeeper » Fri Sep 02, 2011 11:24 am

OK so not a Zed but my new Jag is a flat off white (porcelain)
I'm familiar with detailing metallics and darker colours but any specifics on bringing the best out in flat white paint?

Car is near new, can't see much in the way of swirls and thankfully had no paint protectors applied by the dealers soa clean base to work from.

Have a shelf full of Meguirs products and a pc, already but was thinking of some Porboys for light colours in the mix as it seems good on dark colours

Thoughts and tips welcome

I have found Swissoll to be the best for flat colour (my red Golf). It was not great on the metallics for BMW, but it did work excellent on flat.

I've heard a lot of people say Werkstat products are pretty good on white paint:

I use White Diamond and it's a great polish.....follow it up with some supernatural or Colly 476 S

Just watching tv and talking about boy racers thru the Hindhead tunnel!!

I have used several brands of wax on my AWMC over the last two years. I have just switched to DodoJuice Diamond Hard White and in my opinion it is the best I have used so far on white.

But Poorboy's White Diamond is a glaze, not a wax...! it's designed as a base, you'll still need a top coat of polymer or natural Carnauba over that. Blackfire Wet Diamond or Zaino Z2 are my polymer wax choices, P21S for a Carnauba finish

Id treat it like any other paint as i guess even though solid it will have lacquer on too.

Its more to do with the type of paint soft Jap Cars / Hard German cars (btw thats very vague)

If theres little swirls or you can only see few go for a finishing polish low cut high gloss. menzerna Range IMO are nice long work time but dust. You could use 3M polishes as they dont dust but can fill swirls instead of remove if now worked long enough.

Let me know if you need any advice.

Are you sure? I thought flat paint did not have lacquer, but I only had the car 4 days before I left in on a airport car park, so cannot check.

I need to check with Jag as interestingly if you order a paint touch-up it comes with lacquer except flat colours that get a primer.
