A friend of mine is hoping to start a detailing business and regularly 'practices' on my car. He has recently purchased a Kranzle pressure washer which I used the other day. I would like to buy one for myself but I am not prepared to pay £500.
Does anyone have any recommendations for a small durable reliable domestic pressure washer about £150 - or do I even need to spend that much?
Thanks
This is the machine my friend bought:

Karcher is the make to go for. I have had mine for 15 years now, you can regulate the pressure and it is just perfect.

Karcher for me too - without doubt the make to go for. Mine can clean down competition Jeeps so it can handle a bit of road dirt.gannet wrote:I too use a Karcher, not sure which model it is though...

I like the ability to make the spray as gentle as you wish as serious damage results from high pressure.
Almost pointless naming models as everywhere I see them it has a different # designation but it looks like the K 5.55 MD T 200 at

Re: Best pressure washer for about £150?
Touchfree cleaning a vehicle is a two step process. First you need a good detergent to losen off the soil and then the impact from a pressure washer to blast it off. In order to get good impact, you need water pressure (1000 to 1600PSI), a suitable tip (depends on distance from nozzle to surface) and lots of water volume (4 gallons or 12 liters or more per minute). The problem with most cheaper pressure washers is that they cannot deliver the volume...they also have cheap pumps, motors and no unloader valves. With regards to Karcher, they do not make their own pumps or motors (even in their commercial units) and so they could be good or crap depending.
If you cannot afford a unit, use a local self-serve carwash. Where I live, it would take over two years of carwashing costs to pay for a cheap unit. Hope this helps...Big Leo

I also have a Karcher. Don't recall the model number as it is put away for the winter but max pressure is 3000 psi which is way more than needed for a car but great for stripping paint ect. They make a quality pressure washer but they are not cheap.

Bought the K5.55 yesterday. There is an awful lot of kit and performance for the money. Recommended.
