Yeah, definitely have to meet at the event. I''ve added you to the list - will you be taking to the track or not?

Probably not JJ just like to mooch and look. I am guessing you will be heading past Oxford on your route there?

Machine monkey, yeah probably will, unless there's a route with nicer scenery which can be recommended

I have been thinking of doing a track day but I've never been on the track before. Well not in a car anyway. I race quad bikes on motocross tracks.
Where would I start, can you get some kind of instructer for a beginner, what events and tracks are a good place to start. I have already paid a little extra for insurance which covers track days. Any advise would be good.
Also is it advisable in a brand new car.

BMW X6M

Let me have a think about that. I can probably link a few miles of nice driving in to the route.

Could do! I'm in an Audi A3 though, so may be a bit too slow for you!

IK., info ammended :)

Machine monkey, if you know a nice route perhaps we could meet on my way past Oxford then do a little round route for the last stretch. I'll have my nav running so I know we won't get lost either way...

Quadracer, I definitely won't be going on the track. I would never recommend it unless you have special track insurance or a very cheap car. I'll be happy to ride shotgun (camera man) with anyone who does fancy it :)

Where are you thinking of convoying from?

I reckon it'd be interesting to compare MPG figures once we got there, since I'd be trying so much harder to keep up, I bet mine would be near or even worse!

No idea yet IK depends weather I get in and what direction people are traveling from? If people are traveling though Oxford then I would suggest meeting at the BMW dealer on the A40.
