Z4 bonnet/hood Badge

Post by benben » Fri Nov 08, 2013 5:46 am

Looking to replace the hood/bonnet BMW badge for my E85 2.5i as its faded.
Does anyone know where you can get a decent one without paying a fortune?
Also I looked around on ebay and it seems they are supposed to be 82mm but when I measured it, the front/hood/bonnet was around 70mm and the boot one was around 82mm?!!!

Thanks in advance

Jonny Essex, do you mean remove the emblem from the old silver back plate. And then stick the new emblem on top of it ? Do you remove the new emblem from the new back plate or stick the whole thing on top of the old backing ?

Thanks

The only place you will get an OEM one is from a dealer unfortunately, as I m pretty sure the Z is the only BMW with this size of front badge so it's not common. There is a chap in the UK who does 70mm OEM fitment badges in carbon etc. - [email protected]. Could try chucking him an email to see what he has ? I think, though cannot be sure, that they are £13... Which may end up being as expensive as a dealer after shipping. The OEM fitment means there is no fettling required, and the lugs on the back are long enough to use the self tapping nuts that hold it on.

Bugger, sorry - it is [email protected] :slaphead:

I think my c/f one was £25, you'd think OEM would be less but it is a while since I got one.

Hi Ian,

I would be after the “Genuine Carbon Fibre” design roundel for the bonnet of my E85 (I believe the size is 70mm).
The last seven digits from the VIN number are: LS80128

Cheers,
Ian

ah cheers mate, that will end up being around the same 90 dollar mark by the time it gets to Australia then.
I found one on ebay which is 72mm. The guy claims it will work fine though?!

what do you reckon?

P.S. How do you even remove the badge? just wedge it out or do you have to remove the grills and there is a nut or something like that under the badge that needs to be removed first?
