Not sure if this qualifies as a dealership post, but just a heads up... Greenlight car insurance do not cover BMWs! So avoid wasting your time on the phone to them!

Just ringing around now, buddy - Admiral have come back with a £100 hike on the renewal, so usual games! £361 last year, £461 this year, Adrian Flux down to £405... waiting on ClassicLine and will try Esure!

I could have told you that! Infact I told Johnny Essex that when he was looking for a modified insurance company. We have the R32 GTR on an agreed value policy.

I was going to recommend them and then checked the small print that said that due to accident statistics they don't cover BMWs.

Had a few conversions with 'classic' car insurance guys at SS Classic this year who said they won't be offering insurance on the Skylines, even the old 70s ones because of the statistics on them. They even went on to say they don't even cover M3s or 40 year old mint 3 series again due to statistics. It's all kak to be honest, especially in the classic car insurance market. If you've got a mint, old car the likely hood is that your not going to be the one to write it off. Madness!

Infact if you had typed 'Greenlight' in the search field my post advising they don't cover BMW would have been the first one.

Search is your friend.

Search is indeed your friend.
However things change and it's good to get the latest information.

Sometimes it's good to talk, otherwise we'd never get to 3k posts. :)

First Direct are worth a try......I have policies on both cars with them and I've recently found them hard to beat. Don't think they show up on go.compare so are often overlooked.

Things do change but statistics on bmws being stolen, involved in accidents unfortunately are not changing for the better and if classic companies will not ensure classics which are over 40 years old and haven't been for years it's going to take a bigger shift in stats to change their mind.

Unfortunately they look at the brand and not the model when they take these blanket approaches.

We've just renewed with them at the start of the month and that nugget is still in there. Infact I can't see any other makes excluded. At least their honest.

But at least going forward others will be aware and may wish to check out their latest T&Cs online prior to enquiring.
