Thinking of selling my Z4 Alpina...I bought it as I loved the sound of the M3 engine from years ago and was hoping to drive it more...but it's just sat in the garage....bought in March this year and I have only put on 200 or so miles.....
:? M3 engine :?
The only thing I can think of that relates to the M3 is that the block of the B3S engine used in the Alpina is a modified version of the block used in the US-spec E36 M3 bored out to 3.4l

Yep - I've heard it referred to an M3 engine before - the Alpina E5/2 engine in the Roadster S is based on the iron-block S52B32 that was used in the North American E36 M3 and is closely related to the USA-spec M52 engine.

Apologies...maybe I am mistaken about the M3 engine...the engine in my Z4 sounds similar to the M3 engines of the era...a deep bassy sound...that is why I assumed it was an M3 engine...took it out on Saturday for a short ride and it was a really enjoyable ride. I keep thinking I would never get one as good so why sell it?
Thing is, it shares the garage with a DB9 V and that always wins when it comes to engine sound....hence why I was thinking of selling as no point having two similar cars..but the Alpina is rare...decisions decisions...

Well, my #019 was June 2004, so it will be an early one. - I've asked the seller !

How many of the 167 are now on your radar, Perry ?

Yours was built in Oct 2003 but UK registered 06/2004, the car on eBay was registered in April 2004 which, along with the interior/exterior colour helps narrow down the field to 022, 023 & 039, whereas 029 is only down as one of the possible build numbers because I don't have any details for it at all other than it being contemporaneous

We're missing details of 12 of the RHD cars now, thanks to Robert spotting #034 - doubt if we'll ever get them all as some are bound to have been written off

I've updated the initial post with a summary of all the cars in this thread - I'll try to keep it updated but it may lag a little behind the thread

Perhaps indicate in the first post which are trade and which are private sales - we all know that dealers have a mark-up, but with having both in the mix, it tends to confuse the market trends and obfuscate the actual values ?

Also, quick question - are you tracking separately, or are you linked into the German register (can't recall the guy's name)?

I'll add a T/P after the price to indicate this

I'm in touch with Kees from Alpina-Archive and keep him updated with anything I find regarding the RHD cars and he lets me know if he finds out anything of interest

that looks ok for the money
It's another example that shows that Alpina prices are on the up, #192 was up for sale by Stratstone in Feb 2014 with 74,000 miles for just under £12k, they then increased the price by a few hundred in March 2014 and sold her, now here she is, over two years later at 78,000 miles, up for £14k at a non-BMW dealer

Not that I'm complaining about stronger prices...

Can you guys help me price up my Alpina Roadster S #116?

It is a 2004 Alpina blue with 118k on the clock. I bought it with 60k and have owned it for nearly 8 years. Full service history with bmw specialists.

I have upgraded it with quaife diff, strong struts, koni ssk shocks with eibach springs (original springs also available).

I am thinking £11k, do you guys think I am in the right ball park?

Without all the add-ons, I would say 9k - 10k (depending on condition). With add-ons, I would say 11k would be about right.
(and if you plan on removing the quaife, let me know  )
