Apple CarPlay glitch

This may have been covered already, and I’ve had it in a previous X5 that I owned. The glitch is that sometimes after reconnecting to CarPlay the steering wheel buttons for advancing and going backwards for tracks is unresponsive so the only way is to use the icons on the touchscreen.
If I stop car and get back in later the function usually works again, and it seems only to be glitchy after a short shopping or petrol stop. Any ideas to resolve or to get the buttons active again would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Mine started doing exactly the same earlier this week on Spotify - I was about to post about it, (worrying it was a car issue) however I 'Googled' first. It seems it's a known Spotify issue.
The suggested remedy was to re-start your phone, and also check the car software and Spotify app were up to date.

I've done as suggested, (Spotify app now updated), but haven't been out in the car yet to try it.
I'll be nipping out later tonight so fingers crossed it will be ok

Odd though, I've had the car since just before Xmas and it only started acting up on Tuesday this week

UPDATE: worked fine tonight

I’m going off Car Play nice display but l’ve had several routing and connection issues - signal and car , so tend to use car satnav

Happens regularly to me.
When it happens you don’t get the track information on the HUD when trying to scroll through songs. Just says loading or something.
Same on the dial display, if you move it to entertainment, it says no song information.
Turning off Bluetooth and back on usually fixes it, but it’s really annoying.
