auto shift lever lights

This is a trivial problem. The orange lights on my shift selector don't stay on. They kind of flicker when I manipulate the lever. Is this a common, simple fix or should I just live with it?
Its a 2010 30i auto, by the way.

I'd say you've got a loose wire down there.

Perfect. I fitted an Apple car play box so it’s probably knocked something loose when I put it back together.

Single multipoint conector from the gear lever to an inline socket in the central console area..easy to half insert it.don't ask me how I know!
