Brake dust

I use Blackfire and it practically washes off with hardly any effort. Can't stop the breakdust, I hate the way it makes my wheels look so I'm very particular about keeping them clean.

Yup...@%$**&#. Can only wash 4-8am or 5-7pm on Sundays, and that's it. Our lakes around here are looking good, but the big O is still down quite a bit. But, there is talk that the restrictions may be lifted from one day to two days...

As you may have read in another thread I have just purchased a jack and torque wrench (came with a Creeper and two jack stands too as a set from Sears for $100). So I can just take the wheels off for easy cleaning with a sponge and soapy water.

you forgot the plasters which you need when you cut yourself at the dust guards ... 😉

Oh man, you too? I have the M wheels and I started using a wheel cleaning thingy I bought from a mail order catalog, can't remember where, but I can now reach in there and clear the inner wheel and not cut myself! What a great improvement.

the brake dust bugs me as well. this week since i got my car detailed last week, i spray the detailing spray on them and wipe away when i get home.....then i go wash my hands. gotta learn to get get along with the brake dust better. we'll see if this behavior continues.

I personally have always used Hawk ceramic pads on all my cars. That combined with Wheelwax, I actually have more dust on my rear wheels accumulate (which of course is almost nothing!) than on the fronts. Great pads, better bite than stock by far, and no dust:)

The brake dust makes me nuts. I could wash my wheels everyday and they still wouldn't stay clean. All nice and shiny, drive down the hill, dusty by the time I get to the bottom  If it wasn't for the warranty, I'd switch over to the Axxis pads today. Instead, I find new cuts on my little hands every week from constantly cleaning my wheels :(

I put a nice little cut in my knuckle yesterday from the brakes....meh a little blood donation never hurt anyone and it improves the car's attitude knowing I bled for it.

On a side note, due to the sun/heat and me not paying attention during the drying process I noticed one side of the car only said 3.0 instead of 3.0i.....so yeah now both sides say 3.0 and I'm |_| close to just debadging it.

SoCalSizzle, did someone tell you that by changing over to Axxis brake pads it would void your warranty?

No. Will it void my warranty?? If that's the case, I think a good reason to continue to "deal" with the brake dust.... :o

What is difficult about the 107s? You can get your hands everwhere. On my previous 103s - I could not get anywhere near the back

+1. I find the style 107's very easy to wash. If one thinks they're difficult and take too much time to wash, try washing my BBS RGR's, or the CSL's/ZCP's. :D The thing about the 107's that I found is if you need the wheels to "appear" clean, you really could cheat and quickly wash the very outer surfaces of the rims and all 4 wheels combined would take about 5 minutes.
