Custom Cruise Control Loom

Umfaan said:
Hi ....hopefully someone can enlighten me as a recent newbie....It looks like Cruise control is just a matter of a new wiring loom and stalk and it all works ....or is there is more to this .Car is a E85 2006

Thanks

Depends on whether your car is face-lift or not. You'd need to provide more detail I believe.

Build date was 07 /2006 E85 2.0 . What periods are the Face lifts. Apparently the cars up to 2004 have the loom there already .What additional info would you need .

You can tell if you have the facelift easily from the rear lights. Do you have the circular indicators on them, or the straight lines throughout the cluster?
I'm not an expert (clearly), so you'd need Srhutch to confirm what your car has. PM him if you don't get a response, as the notifications on this post don't seem to be switched on anymore.

Sorry for not responding, not getting notifications that the thread has been posted on, so have missed.

You will need a loom and stalk. I can provide the loom and the stalk is available from main dealer for around £105, of used on ebay from £40 upwards (but not very often available)

Finally fitted my cruise control yesterday and it works! Many thanks to Srhutch for the loom and consise instructions. As a bonus the car seems to running smoother after a few hours with the battery disconnected.

I’ve only done one. From memory i disconnected the plugs from the small black box where pin 39 is. Doing that enabled me to straighten out the rubber hose enough to push a bit of garden wire through with which I could then pull the blue wire through.

Quick question on this, is pin 39 on the grey connector easy to spot ? Are the pin numbers written on the connector ? (I have a facelift N52 model)

Yes, the plastic plugs are numbered.

For clarification I made a slight alternation to the docs recently as it was pointed out the grey plug is in two sections, one of which is grey and one black which led to a little confusion.

You then need to connect it into Pin 39 of the grey plug (two section grey and black in the grey plug. It goes in the black section)

Hi Steve, if they’re still available I’d like to buy a loom please. Z4 E85 3.0i 2005 Roadster .thanks Anthony

A little late, though many thanks for the supply & fit Steve.

Has been working faultlessly since, making 30mph zones a breeze, not a speedo distracting liability.

HI, I am too new to PM you, can you email me at xxxx if you still do the wiring looms for a E85 2.5si and if so send me payment details and let me know how quickly you coudl send it. I have the stalk and someone to install.

Thanks

Kevin

Hi, I am interested in this too. I've read all the posts in this thread, but I'm still quite unsure about the installation of the cc. Am I correct in thinking that srhutch provides all the wiring, but I'd need to have my own stalk and the cowl with a space for it (or a cut out in the existing one)?

Would a cc stalk from a different bmw series fit the E85?

I've got a 2.5si N52 and perhaps would be interested in this kit, once I can understand a little more about the installation :)
