E85 Power Steering Motor replacement

My 2003 Z4 Power Steering has ceased up .
Any advise where I can get it overhauled or replaced. I am in New Zealand.

What is the actual problem? Have you done a scan and have trouble codes? In the UK, a few companies overhaul the EPS unit for around £300 and provide a lifetime guarantee. If you use your own unit then it will not require coding. Some may not offer shipping to NZ but there is a way around that. Enuff Zed will respond soon on who he uses as it is a bit early in the UK. For now search the forum on this topic, there are plenty of threads! https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=145266&hilit=EPS

Morning. Just about to jump on a plane to Dublin to code an airbag module.
If your car has a sports button and that doesn’t work then almost certainly the ecu on the motor has failed.
Fairly easy to remove the motor without taking the column out.
I always use ECU Testing. £295 and a lifetime warranty. I know US owners have used them so you may be lucky. Look them up and have a chat with them first.

When I tstart the car after it has not been used for a few days the steering is stiff and the Sport button light is off. After driving for a couple of kilometres the steering frees up and the Sport light comes on.
The process repeats when I stop and turn off the key.

Ok so usually with the sport button not working either it is definitely the eps ecu. Sounds like yours has an issue with a dodgy connection inside that needs to warm up. It will only get worse. I suggest you contact ECUTesting to see if they can help.

Hello all, recently joined but long time (12yrs+) Z4 owner (3.0 manual black) I’ve had the power steering issue in and off for a few years but getting much more frequent now so looking to get motor refurbed. Usual error codes (611b, 611c, 6127, 6128). I’ve searched the forum but haven’t been able to find the guide to motor removal without taking whole column out. Can anyone help? Thx. Ian (West Sussex)
