Just purchased my first Z4. A 2005 model with 2.5 SE spec. It was a hasty purchase to replace my Lotus Esprit which has given me endless problems over the years and is now waiting export to Belgium.
My first impressions of the Z4 are very favourable although I have only had it a couple of days, most of which have been spent cleaning the interior and polishing the exterior, not that it really needed it. I hope to enjoy many years with this car.
As a DIY mechanic I never really trust garage serving records and like when buying a new car to start off giving it a full service myself. So, a quick question, what engine oil would be recommended for a car at 55000 miles. I am not sure about the really thin oils ie those starting with '0' but I see from the last service that it have 5/30 oil of unknown make. Petronas 5/30 seems to be advised at Eurocarparts but any steers would be much appreciated.

Welcome aboard, how about a few pics of your new car - we'd all love to see it :)
(others will be along to answer your oil question I'm sure)

Welcome, hope you enjoy your Z4. I'm no expert but from what I've read about the subject, Castrol Edge 0W30 or 5W30 seems v. popular.

And, let me add :worthless:

A few pictures of the Car

Not sure thats going to work. If not will try again.
I paid £6400 for the car, possibly a bit on the high side but it is immaculate and has only covered 55000 miles. I was told it has different 18 inch tyres for the 2.5 car, plus heated seats, roof which operates from the key fob plus the Sports button. Is that any different from others cars??

Looks great, love silver Zeds. Not all Zeds have heated seats , the rest is standard for that model (apart from wheels).

Hi and welcome.

Very nice car - on cold clear winter mornings you will appreciate the toasty bum seat option!

Enjoy :driving:

Hi, nice looking car, my 53 plate has heated seats and sports button, but not the fob operated roof, have fun

Welcome to the forum! Iv only been here a few days myself and everone has been very friendly and helpful. Car looks very nice!

Anything has to be more reliable than the Lotus. Infact I have sold it as a non runner!!! It was brilliant taking the Z out in the sunshine on Saturday with the roof down. However with the traffic jams we have in the South I didnt get a chance to push the sports button.
