FITCAMX

I asked earlier this week....

I will be getting in touch with them after Monday.

Just been in touch with them, sent them pictures on an enquiry.
They came back and asked to measure the length of the RVM cover, then came back with a link, directing me to the G29 camera as advertisewd on their site.

So I will be placing an order.....

I placed an order on Friday, sent them pictures and measurements of the current assembly (think there's multiple mirror base covers depending on whether auto high beam fitted). I paid £139 including free postage (its £189 on Amazon and not much different on Ali Express £142 + £29 tax), bit of a gamble, but we will see if it's as good as reported on Youtube. When the car was in for a service on Saturday I asked about the BMW Eye 3.0 system, approx £700 supply/ fit :o (and it doesn't integrate with the existing fittings), now to work out how the mirror base cover comes apart? I will report back...

Please do as I will then buy the power adaptor for the rain sensor and wire my dash cam that way.

I could not get it apart at all, didn’t want to force it.

Not sure where the £700 came from. I had a PCE3.0 supplied and fitted for £300 at main dealers yesterday. It is the Pro model and only front facing, but I thought it was good value for money

Count yourself lucky, there's someone round here driving with one fitted to their car at more than twice the price

FITCAMX is now fitted, took about 20 minutes. The old mirror housing came away ok without any lug breakage, gentle persuasion with a trim tool and started just below the mirror on the bump. Supplied with a mini harness that uses the rain sensor power connection, all integrated, no loose wires, fits into a new mirror housing that looks OEM. Dash cam seems to be operating fine, connects to an app where you can see the videos and has a micro SD card (even supply a card reader that connects to your computer usb/usbc). Will test it when I meet up with some other Z's at the weekend and report back.

Looks nice and minimal extra stuff to see. Looking forward to read some user feedback.

That looks excellent. Does it have a parking mode?
I’m very tempted, but worried how it would affect warranty?

Not on this base level model (I never park in car parks if I can avoid it and if I do I'm parked at the furthest empty parts, much to the annoyance of the other half :x ), but it is offered, here is the link: https://fitcamx.com/collections/bmw/products/fitcamx-dash-cam-for-bmw-z4-g29-chassis-2019-2024

If I want to return the car back to stock, its only a 5 minute job to remove this, no cables running behind dashes and pillars

Zed.

Can you tell me how easy was it to connect to the Fit cam app, and see the recorded footage.

I bought one very similar to this when I got my car, aprox 2 years ago, from our Chinese friends,[Aliexpress], but have had great difficulty in accessing the footage.

The one I have looks exactly the same as the fitcam version...Same website type same easy connection etc etc. Just not called FitcamX...

Dave, I gave it a quick test last night. I connected it to my phone wifi when I got in the car, pretty simple and I think it does it automatically. It seems to split the video into segments (something like 1minute 30secs each), at the end of the trip there was about 15 videos on their app on the phone, I could then download them to my phone's memory. Quality of the video seemed very good and you can record with/without sound I haven't tried taking the micro sd card out and running it on my Mac to see what's it stored there, might do that later today.

Have you tried connecting your camera to the Fitcamx app to see if it recognises it?

Footage is really easy to access either directly on your phone or by taking the card out and using the supplied card reader in your pc.
