Flooding

No not the Zed but the flooding which seems to be affecting large swathes of the country. Down here in the South we have really high temperatures and generally grey skies but not much rain.
Watching the news last night I spotted a half submerged Zed but couldnt tell what model it was. Hope it isnt a members car.
Has anyone suffered with this flooding??

Its really odd....

Above and below me in the UK have suffered, but not a lot for me at all, living on top of a huge hill does have the odd advantage..... Some of the pics i have seen are horrendous though.

And today has been like a beautiful spring day so far, slightly cold but sunny and bright.

Odd odd weather...

I have a house near Salford Quays (where the BBC and ITV are)...

This was a twenty second walk from my house there...

I live in East Yorkshire and we've escaped pretty much unscathed, but water levels are still high.

Heart goes out to those who've been flooded. Must be awful :(

Doesn't matter whether Cumbria , Lancs or Yorks its grim for those affected .
Many nearby towns along the Calder & Ribble have been flooded badly with Padiham just a mile away under 3ft yesterday & no power there for 1500 homes overnight ( the flood defence wall completed this summer was simply not high enough  )
After 36hrs continuous downpour from 11am Xmas day its been dry & bright today but unfortunately rain started again the last hour with more predicted over the coming days
Outlook not good & as Stuart says you have to feel for anyone affected as likely be months before their homes are returned to a habitable condition

we have just got home from visiting my family in Whixley Yorkshire, took us 5 hours to battle home to Rayleigh Essex

So have seen the floods 1st hand .. luckily Whixley is ok

Had my family list yesterday - from York - my son and his family got stuck in the floods just outside York but managed to get to us (Scarborough). My daughter should have been on duty at York Hospital last night but all roads to York from Scarborough were blocked. So we ended up with 9 people staying last night. Lots of wine and festive sprite (physical and mental....). All safely back to York this morning and thankfully all family homes intact!

On Christmas day did something I vowed never to do again - drove thorough deep flood water
I wasn't in the Zed, I was in the Hyundai. 3 years previously I wrote off my Mondeo ST in flood water :( We made it through two deep flood waters on Whittingham lane on the way to Goosnargh (North Preston) taking the mother-in-law home. Having dropped her off, we went the long way home and managed to avoid deep water, but it was very nerve-wracking. I've never felt such relief to get back home. Must be a nightmare for those who's homes are flooded.

I live in Whalley but fortunately the water didnt get to my house' unfortunately my local wasnt as lucky

This was the view out of my front window here in Mawdesley, Lancs at 9am Boxing Day.
The stream flowing alongside the diagonal driveway on the left usually flows under the lane and re-appears to the right of the white bungalow but there was just too much water and was flowing knee-deep any way it could over the lane and back into the stream. The old guy in the bungalow told me this morning that the water was 2 inches from his front door step ! It has washed his front and rear gardens away and filled his garage full of silt. I shovelled 2 to 3 inches of sand from the bottom of my drive this morning. We had to venture out at midday yesterday to 'rescue' my son from a relatives in nearby Croston which was badly flooded again. In 33 years of driving I have never seen anything like it. Every dip and hollow in the roads was at least a foot to 18 inches deep in water. We had to do a couple of u-turns where it must have been waist high. Even in our Freelander 2 it took us 1.5 hours to do a 20 mile round trip instead of the usual 6 miles and 15 minutes !
I really feel for anybody who has had there homes or property flooded out. I just saw on the BBC news that 500 homes in Croston have been without electricity today which is terrible but must be even worse at Xmas time.

Fine down in the south east. Couldn't imagine seeing anything like what i've seen on the news. It'd be a disaster as I live so close to London.
