Gel pad for auto lights and wiper sensor

I've had real difficulty replacing the gel pad that sticks the sensor to the windscreen. Ive tried the m3 pad which I cant sit correctly without causing bubbles (Gone through 5 of these). I then tried an alternative thicker pad from amazon which was easier to apply but have just discovered the gel has come away from the winscreen so wont stay stuck. Has anyone had any success with another product? If so where is it from and how did you apply it?

You could use a dab of clear silicone.

I'll just leave a post here to be notified if a solution comes up. My rain sensor doesn't work because of air bubble in front of it. I was told to replace the whole windshield because of this, that there is no other solution. A glass replacing company told me so however.

I may have a go with clear silicone as a last resort. I've just bought another clear pad that isn't gel, I may try that first.

But why is a gel even required there, does anybody know? Why can't there just be air?
