Has the 30i been dropped from the lineup?

Yes it has, M40i or 20i now only choices
Thanks Andy, seeing as you are a wee bit further north than me, do you get any problems with condensation inside the roof and having had both the G29 and the E89... anything to watch out for?

Well here in the states they call it a Z4 sDrive30i

Looks like the 20i is not available in the USA

20i and 30i are both 4 cylinders offering different amounts of power (this is probably obvious to most!). The US has only ever had the more powerful 30i AFAIK whereas we used to have both versions. Suspect the 30i never sold that well in the UK market and so BMW UK have removed from lineup.

I’ve never had any problems with condensation, windows steaming up etc. I would say the E89 was slightly worse for that. Windows clear very quickly in G29. Mine has been sitting for about for 5/6 weeks in some very cold, damp weather without me even being in it. Was in it yesterday looking for something no moisture, windows completely clear etc.

I can honestly say there’s been almost no issues with the G29. Had a small problem with a power cable at the alternator, fixed under warranty the only other thing really so far is a parking sensor decided to s**t the bed. Main issue with that was it took lots of other things out with it but under warranty and fixed easily. Stones in the brakes a few times and with a heavy right foot tyres are a regular consumable.

I love mine, inside the cabin is a wonderful place to be. Spacious, comfy just all round nice, much prefer it to the E89. Boot space is also a huge bonus for us.

If you want buy can't find a 30i I suppose you just buy a 20i that is out of warranty and then do this! https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=145941

I'm guessing it got dropped because it wasn't a big seller here.

BMW obviously want to keep the 30i as an exclusive club. Discerning customers only, not that I am bias in any way you understand 8)

I was thinking of getting SC7s too. I had heard they wear quickly. How many miles did you get from them ?

I reckon around 5k, they weren’t illegal at that but were causing a few “moments” :o

Replaced them with Falken 520’s UHPT, just no, not suited to the M40i at all but wear rate better

Out of all of them the Conti 7’s were my favourite, just a pity they didn’t last a bit longer. The 6.8mm starting point is a killer imho.

Just to add, I DON’T do doughnuts or leave big black streaks up the road but it does get regularly driven hard and fast. All tyre wear equal on all sets of tyres. HTH’s

Thanks for the info. Maybe I need a rethink.

Just thinking about replacing the rear Michelins on mine while I've got the winters on, looking at Goodyears F1 A6's due to the better noise and comfort levels over the Continental SC7, I never get close to exploring the limits of traction when cornering, not spirited enough I guess. Not sure I want the Michelins again, great when they're warm, not so great when they're not.

A wee update, I got to drive a 30i at a BMW dealership just over a week ago and decided it fitted in with what I wanted (even though they tried to tempt me with a M40i  ),the car I test drove didn't in my option have enough whistles and bells. Since then I've put a deposit on another car and I'm waiting for it to be shipped up here, I've been on a vin decoder and here's the spec, I think it ticks most of the boxes?
