I have a Z4 Irish plate, only a couple of hundred quid. Bargain.

You have to send all your paperwork to Ireland though and it takes about 6 weeks to get it all back!!

Can it be registered for use over here tho? Thought you had to uk register within certain period? Does it impact insurance premium?

Yes NI plates are fully compatible over here. No time limit on registering and doesn't affect premium. Mine took a couple of weeks max to come back from DVLA. Plates4less do all the paperwork for you.
