Matt’s Road & Track Coupe - Jun-25 update: bushes, brakes, air intake, oil cooler, lithium battery

Noco mounted now, I used high density foam to keep things reversible. I like to be able to refit a standard battery in case I find myself in a pickle, so terminals and mounting retain that option.
The battery tie down bar has a strip of thick rubber underneath it so that it doesn’t cut into or wear the foam.

With the lithium battery saving substantial weight and seats set to achieve the same if I can figure out how to mount them, wheels were the next obvious port of call.
So today I have ordered some new track wheels, I have used Bola flow-formed wheels before and happily they were generous enough to offer a material discount on already very well-priced wheels for another set.
I went for the FLB in 17x8, which come in at under 8kg per wheel.

Ooh I can imagine the space would be really valuable in an //M!

The downside of the Noco is although it’s got big cranking power, it has a much smaller capacity, so could catch you out depending on how the car is used.

Seeing as I have a full size front wheel as a spare in the boot for when I do trips in Scotland the space saving would be fantastic.

But as my car often sits for weeks at a time, especially over winter, it doesn't look like it would be a sensible choice sadly. :(
