Mileage survey

I have seen various surveys like 'average drivers age' but has a survey been carried out at any time on how many miles our cars have covered. I ask because there are a number of cars up for sale on the forum with over 100k miles on the clock and I have always understood that once a car hits that mileage in the publics eye it is a 'scraper'
The 6 cylinder is a sturdy beast which can cover probably go to 200k plus but the 100k miles has always been a bit of a ceiling as far as a cars value is concerned and I am intrigued with the sort of mileage our cars have travelled.

Mines a 2010 car with 19k miles, I've read of 6 cylinder bmw engines running to 300k with nothing major happening.

I feel utterly compelled to post this pic again, lol.
Not a zed but from my old E36 coupe with the M52TU 6 pot engine....
My Zed has 105k on it and I'm going to equal or better the 261k miles I put on Benny....

Well everyone knows my mileage is a joke - 2004 29960 miles - and I'm pretty sure mine is not the lowest for year on here :o

I'm not that far behind..well apart from years. I keep being told to get some miles on it, but I'm going to make it last forever! :driving:

Whats more impressive though probably is I use mine as my daily drive and don't 'garage it' in winter.

My 03 Roady 3.0Se is just nudging 57,000 miles. I've done 5,000 of those since purchase in April...

High mileage is not the bad thing it once was, modern cars are designed to do lots of miles, providing they are looked after. Buying with high miles has never frightened me personally, as long as the service history is there to back up the correct maintenance, and by that I mean receipts for the work done, not just stamps in a book.

One of my DD's, a 2005 Volvo XC90 had 195,000 on it when I bought it 3 years ago. It was a one owner, one driver car, that had been maintained regardless of expense. It's now nudging 240,000 and has been faultless, still looking and driving better than some I test drove a few months ago whilst looking for one for my sister, some with less than 50k on them...

Likewise with my other DD, the van - An 09 Fiat Scudo, bought 12 months ago with 198,000 miles on it, again one owner, looking loke a 2 year old van, and now approaching 220,000 miles not having missed a beat.

Miles go up, prices come tumbling..
