Yes, that is very useful. Otherwise you get the continuous "where are you based" replies to sale ads, help needed, etc, etc.Would like to see users location under their name in left hand side of display.
Was hoping to get some reasons why. Every time we have changed the forum there have been people who preferred it the way it was, but change is needed sometimes, especially when the old software was so slow to update, as well as a headache for me to maintain.Victor Meldrew alert... Preferred it how it was....

I have increaded the post size limit and your example has now been fixed. Not sure I'm going to do this by script or just on a case by case basic manually when issues are reported.Maybe these are rare cases, possibly in the How-To section, but should be "refreshed" soon by a script.
Perfect, thanks.I have increaded the post size limit and your example has now been fixed.
Well, as I'm intensively placing links into my posts, about 500 have to be updated by me personally. Especially the HowTo section should be updated "automatically".Not sure I'm going to do this by script or just on a case by case basic manually when issues are reported.
ah ok, I thought it was only a few... will take a look at it thenWell, as I'm intensively placing links into my posts, about 500 have to be updated by me personally. Especially the HowTo section should be updated "automatically".
Nah, the 1180px (max)width is just fine. I'd rather have some empty space left and right than have it fill out to max width. Having super wide pages / content is also not very user friendly tbh.@sp3ctre
Different screen layouts between the German ZRoadster and the Z4-forum:

The additional space on both sides can be used on high resolution displays.
Why to prefer technical restrictions for all users instead of justifying screen sizes on your personal desktop?I'd rather have some empty space left and right than have it fill out to max width.
Tbh I don't see me doing this one... the vast majority of people use mobile nowadays , and of those who use desktop they have it in a window anyway. I have other priorities of things I want to fix.Why to prefer technical restrictions for all users instead of justifying screen sizes on your personal desktop?
Windows/MACs allow this since decades.![]()
I don't like change so that's my fault. And there is nothing that doesn't work that I've noticed, but I haven't taken to the new look so haven't explored much. It now just seems like every other forum to me, layout wise. Was hoping to get some reasons why. Every time we have changed the forum there have been people who preferred it the way it was, but change is needed sometimes, especially when the old software was so slow to update, as well as a headache for me to maintain.
For example, there has been the following feedback:
Image quality - I can fix this
Location under avatar - working on this today
Option for 24h clock - I am writing an addon to do this, hopefully today
Header graphic - I will fix this, for sure, I just want to prioritise the other issues first
Not all irritations can be "fixed", but I do value feedback from people and often things that bug people are fixable, either by me fixing the forum or suggesting different ways to do things.
This is an email notification I got this morning. The link marked in red brings me exactly to the mentioned post:- having to scroll through an entire thread to find new posts after clicking on a email new post notification. In this circumstance, clicking the “jump to new” button takes you to the last page but not the new post.

The problems I encountered seem to have been addressed - the email notification I received about this thread brought me directly to this point, and the “Jump to new” button is now working consistently. This is an email notification I got this morning.
