Really worried

Jasper looks tough as old boots, very glad he’s still on the mend

Never been a cat person until this little fella adopted us. He’s weird as hell but absolutely awesome.

He’s gone.
Hit by something on the road yesterday.
Absolutely heartbroken.
RIP Chenko, my little buddy - you were the best.

Aw Swanny....that's so sad. They really get under your skin and become family members and it's so hard when they leave us. So sorry it happened this way. Sending virtual hugs.

Sorry to hear that. As previously said, pets do get under our skin and its devastating when we loose them, even worse when we have to decide that its time to let them go.

Perhaps it was this guys mission to make you into a cat person so you adopt another one?

Thanks everyone, still can’t believe our little fella has gone.

@darich - I hope Jasper is still doing well.

@Nanu - if that was his mission, he may have succeeded but think I was/am a Chenko person, rather than a cat person.

Thanks...he's doing great. I'll get more photos and post a couple later.
Still sorry about Chenko...he was a handsome lad and looked a character.

Give it time, There are plenty more Chenko's out their waiting to be rescued. One will find you

Jasper's wires were removed on Friday 20th December
Jasper is home without any wires and about 95% healed, physically. Mentally, might take a bit longer but we'll make sure he's fine.
Wires were removed without any problems, leaving Jasper with only a small wound on his chin which will heal over the next few days.
When we got home, he checked the house to make sure everything was as it should be. We fed him since he hadn't eaten since the previous night because of the anaesthetic. He devoured a tin of applaws with chunks. The first time he's had non-pureed food since late October. Another few weeks till he's allowed biscuits though.
Then he went to his current favourite toy - a large string mouse and lay rubbing against it for a while. Then he jumped onto his favourite spot - the footstool. From there, we were treated to a load of vigorous head rubs and nudges along with lots of purrs. He's definitely feeling good and happy to be home.
It's so good to have him home and have no more visits to the vet or hospital scheduled. The hospital staff loved him - I think it's sympathy because he only has one eye and it makes him quite memorable.
I asked for Jasper's wires as a memento and the hospital duly obliged. The small wires at the bottom of the photo were around his bottom jaw I think, and removed through the small hole at the tip of his chin. No stitches needed. The top one was, I think, wrapped around his teeth like braces because there were no obvious incisions or stitches.
He was outside over the weekend. Bit of exploring and looking around from the driveway. Very nervous and jumpy as you can see from the sloping back and tail down. He then ran across the drive, and ran up the tree and had a look around. He's up that tree so often that I built platforms for him to relax on and in summer he sleeps out there overnight. He's very familiar with it. He then jumped down and ran around to the back garden, dug a hole, did a pee, then sprinted across and jumped up the 6ft fence. I grabbed a photo of him with lots of branches between me and him so it's a bit hazy but I quite like the photo so included it here. Quite an adventure for him and his heart was racing when he came back in...I think he was nervous and and bit anxious...but loved it.
He's more comfortable round the back where it's enclosed and private so he slows down more and and is more relaxed.

So good to have him home and healed, even if he is a bit more nervous outside. It'll take time to get his confidence back.

Glad she liked them.....if she's on facebook then Jasper has his own page https://www.facebook.com/OurboyJasper where I'll upload photos of him and my other two cats

Only stumbled on this thread today. We've been long time cat owners and have had many over the decades.

Any thought to making Jasper an indoor only cat? Our latest addition a couple years ago, I saw on the highway she was 12 weeks old. she was crawling on the road not moving back legs, feared a cord injury, at any rate dashed and grabbed her, off to the vet, she had a broken femur. Surgeon pinned it and she's full recovered. She'll never go outside again. Pic of squirt before surgery with the cone of shamesquirt4.jpg

We have 3 cats. Jasper being the only boy. Molly has been with us since August 2011 ehen she was 12weeks old. She barely leaves the garden. We rescued Lexi in October....she also barely leaves the garden. Jasper being so boy, wanders much further. Since his accident he's not keen on going far-hes pretty much a garden cat now too.but we lock the cat flap when it's dark and all three are now kept in overnight.

So far it's working well.
