What is that big red bulbous thing on the bottom of my rear view mirror? Couldn't find it anywhere in the manual.

Also, manual indicated auto dimming is switchable. How is that done.

I believe that just happens automatically the mirror has an ambient light sensor. The red thing flashes to show the alarm is active.

Thanks, I was able to verify the dimming is working by blocking the ambient light sensor on the front of the mirror. I guess I was thrown off the other day by a clown in a jeep wrangler. He had his vehicle jacked up high for off road use. And was tailgating me with his high beams on. Headlamps were right at my eye level. Hurting my eyes something terrible and giving me some vertigo. Had to completely turn the mirror away. Mirrors weren't dimming because it wasn't dark out side. It was about 5PM and the jackass was using his high beams (xeons, I think) as daytime running lights.

They can say what they like but their are facts surrounding pedestrian/3rd party fatalities when a 4X4 is involved.
I had a good friend when our kids were at primary school with an X5. He put his kid in the car then proceeded to reverse over my daughter and two of her friends crossing behind him, right in front of me!! I punched his car and he stopped thank god.
He could not even see them out of the high rear window, a few more inches and he would have crushed them against the car behind. Their is a video around that shows how many young kids you have to line up from the back of a range rover before you can see them, its something like 7-8!!!!!!!
The' todger extension' comment came from a campaign being run by a group to try and make people choose sensibly sized cars for inner city use.

Nope. Clear day at 5 PM no rain or fog. Driving in town.

Mirror tilt button, twist it.

Is this a thing? Does it twist to lock the mirror? This maybe the reason for my mirror constantly drooping down, I've been meaning to put some blutac or glue on it. Will need to wait till I get home in a few days to test this. Cheers

Agree with all of the above. Tailgaters are a issue no matter what car you or they are in. I always wanted to put in a bypass switch to activate my back up lights while driving. This would allow me to switch them on while still moving forward. Causing said tailgater to Crap themselves!!! However, would guess it illegal in most countries.

left foot braking ,,, is the term used ,, but practice a few times first as your left foot is used to heavy clutch presses unless its an auto , so you tend to press a wee bit hard ,,, but practice and its great , has other uses too of course.

That exactly what I do, just gently touch the brake pedal and they get the message, my Brother in law has best one, little blue light in the rear window, he says people disappear very quickly when he switches that on, think they would know by now black 330D estates around here are unmarked cars not to tail gate
