I just want to put it out there. The forum is great, stuffed full of good people in real life and online.

Having just bought an E91 I have struggled to find anywhere online a tenth as good for my new touring as this place is for my Z4. It has made me appreciate here a lot more.

Thanks everyone.

Totally agree with this post. Such a great forum. So much great info. Knowledgeable members that are really helpful. And not one mention of a flux capacitor ( well I don't think so). Which drives me frikkin crazy on other forums. eg anyone know what this is. Its the flux capacitor :headbang:

I don’t know but someone will be along shortly that will know

Have to agree with all the positive feedback regarding the usefulness of this forum and the genuine support and interest of its contributors. I’m just a recent blow in with a serious issue with my 2004 Maldives blue 2.5. My car would be worth only scrap value as it wouldn’t pass the NCT.
( Irish mot ). Thanks to this forum and its members, it should now travel on for many more years. Won’t prattle on too long. Enough said. 👍

I am someone who believes in giving negative feedback when it's deserved.

Knowing that I make a conscious effort to do the reverse - be positive when it's thoroughly deserved.

Maybe cos it's one of the few (busy) ones left? Also, cos the demographic is of a 'certain age'? I would guess the average age is around 60 now, so the attitudes are relevant for us between 50 and 70?
Car forums have had their day TBH. The internet is full of dead forums with just one or two people talking to themselves and hoping someone new may turn up (like spiders sitting in their webs). It's all facebook groups now. They are confusing and terrible IMO.
I do like this forum (a lot) but it is a dying breed.

Another vote for the Forum. I have lost count of the occasions when I have received help. Mind you I do have to admit to being in the somewhat older age group with all the prejudices that brings. :D :D .

Two points (not saying I disagree!)

Interesting that you seem to be implying thagt people born in the mid 80s and later, and with access to the net since their mid teens or earlier, are incapable of civilized community and chat.

When I said "great forum" I meant "forum" in the widest sense, and I include facebook groups in that wide sense. You are right - there is a lot of nonsense on facebook.

I have to say that there are two other (non car) forums online that I like. One is a tiny forum relating to my football team - it's been going for 20 years and took over from a predecessor, which in turn took over from a predecessor, and the people on it are to a large extent the same 50 people that were on the predecessors in the late 90s. Mumsnet. You might laugh, but there is some seriously good quality debate and laughs on there. I don't post but I read it and love it! Women tend to be a bit more civilized online.

I've found this forum really great. I've learned loads about Z4s so by the tine I bought my current one I knew exactly what I was getting into.

It has also been useful for buying and selling bits and pieces, as well as a couple of cars!

I've never joined Facebook after hearing how toxic it can be, but never tried Mumsnet (and probably won't).

Well said Mr Tidy! I totally agree and have also successfully bought lots of Z4 goodies from here including a Z4MC! Met some thoroughly decent folks along the way too. Thanks to everyone who’s taken the time to give their advice and added to the great resource of knowledge here!

Cheers Mikey.

I found my MC on here too, and sold both my 3.0Sis here. :D

Yep, found my z4 2.2 on here just over 3 years ago and still enjoying it. And bought bits for it on here.

Yeah, you’re spot on. Good, active forums are a rare breed these days, and it’s a shame because they offer something Facebook groups and other social media just can’t—structured discussions, real expertise, and a sense of long-term community. Facebook groups are chaotic, hard to search through, and often full of the same repetitive questions over and over.

It does feel like a lot of the active forums that remain have a more seasoned demographic, which makes sense. We grew up with forums and appreciate the depth they offer, whereas newer generations gravitate toward faster, more transient platforms.
They get lots of bots too

I actually sought legal advice (well, I asked bigwinn) to see if I could reply to Ace Rimmer's intro simply by asking 'are you?'.

It is a bold statement to be unsubstantiated. Perhaps Pondy can shed some light?
