Firstly, I would like to say how brilliant this forum is for information, hints, tips. It has been a huge help from searching for the right car to fixing the niggle issues which come with an 18 year old car.

Bought it off a member on here back in early May and since that day I have just enjoyed every drive in it. Its a car that you look back on when you leave it!! As it is a long term project, the big stuff will be done over the winter (wheel refurb, small dent in rear quarter, bonnet and wings repainted) but some smaller jobs have started to be sorted. First of all get a private plate (daughter was very happy with choice of plate). Apparantly its her car now!! Some scrapes on lower part of front bumper that my daughter helped to rectify. I replaced white led light for red OEM version. Also took to sorting out the cloudy headlights. Very nervous but think the results are worth it.

I have ordered new wheel badges, wheel spacers, new door handle cables (certain knack to get in, i tell the wife it gives it character), looking to lower slightly.

Thanks for comment.

The roof has split opinions. My wife doesn't like it as it looks an after thought but I think it look quite unique. Daughter likes the roof down all the time.

Welcome to the family! πŸ˜ŠπŸ’
She's a stunner, congratulations!
Indeed, every time I walk away from Vanessa (my car) I always, without fail, look back and gush! πŸ˜πŸ’–
Love the E85.
I am glad to hear your daughter is taking part in the fun!
I too drive with the top down whenever possible, it is just awesome. πŸ˜„πŸ‘
Fills my heart with joy seeing a car like this being taken good care of!
May she serve you well! πŸ€—

That's a good update and your car is looking great.

Going by the photo it may be a while before your daughter can grab the keys!

Thanks for comments. She has got a few years until she gets the keys. But she loves helping out. Next week it will be the suspension and spacers which she is looking forward to helping with.

Love the wheels, even if they do require a refurb but I had specific iteme I wanted when I was looking for it. Black, red interior and Style 107 or Style 108 wheels (plus the hard top) which was a bonus.

It just has something about it, character and just looks different to the normal shapes of today. I also realise now how much smaller it is than modern day cars.

[ref]Tom_Irth[/ref], My feeling exactly!
This car is a modern day classic.
I remember, just over twenty years ago, when BMW unveiled the E85, my jaw dropped.πŸ˜―πŸ’•
It was the first time I found a BMW "sexy".
The curves, lines, and the hidden z4 in its design were like nothing they released before or since in my opinion.
It is an elegant and sexy roadster with a touch of sportines.πŸ’–
People occasionally ask me if it is a new car, and I tell them it is a twenty year old design and BMW stopped producing them in 2009.
They always look stunned, as the E85 still looks "modern" and refreshing.
Ever since the cars unveil, it remained my dream car.☺️
Now I own one! πŸ˜βœ¨πŸ‘

Bit more tweaking today and got the new springs and spacers fitted. Very chuffed with the outcome. Took it for a blast and is not at all harsh like I thought it may be.
