What have you done to your car today?

Started the brakes overhaul and gave up at trying to install the new dust seal on the caliper. It would go nicely on the piston but on the caliper no way. I'd probably need some tool like a ring to press it on evenly all around. Or should it go on nicely with just fingers and some help of a screwdriver, meaning I have a seal too small?

MOT Passed. Required new brake lines to get through, and annoyingly one advisory for a loose brake shield which I keep meaning to fix but haven't. So close to a clean sheet, oh well.

I put my M in for paint with its new ducktail 🦆 spoiler ( the spoiler will be sprayed the matching black ) . I’m guessing the look will be divisive but at present I’m liking the look. I will update with completed photos once fitted and sprayed.

Installed a BlueBus Bluetooth device. Phenomenal sound, and the extra functions that it gains you, i.e. Comfort blinkers, Comfort lock, Comfort unlock etc. are a nice bonus!

Cleaning and fettling my new acquisition 2007 2.0l Z4, suspected front scuttle drains were slow to drain so took the wipers and scuttle off to reveal years of debris build up, took the opportunity to check the rear of the wiper motor for grease contamination on the electrical contact plate whilst I had it all out.

Tried to drive it. Oh well. Seems to be a flat battery, not sure how long since I drove it, a week or two? Sod's law. It spends 95% of the time on my drive and 5% of my time in a parking bay 25 metres away. Guess where it is currently sat, annoyingly?

That's typical!

At least you've got the 3 Series to jump start it - I just hope it doesn't throw up random warning lights like mine did. :(

That was indeed a lot of debris. Nice to get that removed!

Today I changed the 10 year old battery to an identical new Bosch battery. There was no problem at all with the old battery, I just felt that it was time to swap it out before any issues might start happening due to the age. I hope the new battery performs as good.

Installed the proper size battery. Previous owner had TOO small of battery that wouldn't even reach the hold down tabs.. even with the adapter. Also installed the missing battery compartment divider partition (purchased on Ebay), which provided the tool pouch its proper home....
It's the little things. 😉

Yesterday, stripped the front offside brakes off and fixed the brake shield with big washers to stop it rattling around. Only advisory on the MOT this year. Also swapped the third brake light from clear to red because it looks better to me.

Today, got back from a little trip out and decided to (almost) finish fettling the rear of the car with parts. Specifically new anti-roll bar bushes, drop links and springs.

Phew, wish I'd not bothered touching the anti-roll bar, was doubly a pain getting the bushes on with the clips and doing the bolts up, and also getting the drop links pushed onto the ends of the bar. Ended up using a vice as a press for the latter. A few hours later and much swearing, all back together and seems to work fine.

Also realised the passenger footwell luggage net has come apart at some point, fed the elastic back through the net and clipped into place. See how long it lasts this time.

Very much a Z4 weekend! Both working on it and enjoying it! 😁
