What have you done to your E89 today

I took it for its first proper drive since buying it about a month ago.
What a fantastic car, and crazy fast when opened up.

Also removed the awkward "Z4" badge on the trunk lid. the "SDrive 35i" badges are next.........

I agree they look ‘awkward’; my first job was to rid the boot of the silly badge

and she passed with flying colours ,now how do i remove the wing lettering safely ????

Hairdryer to soften the adhesive.

Fishing line or dental floss to "saw" through the adhesive (dental floss breaks a lot, but persevere).

Tar/adhesive remover to get rid of the adhesive that's left.

Made a start to fitting the interior trims that I purchased from Zikim. Just the doors left to do.

I finally got around to replacing two perished boot seals today. Something I'd noticed a while ago but kept putting off because they were £40 each!

Honestly, I’m so glad I did it. I wasn’t getting any leaks but prevention is better than cure. What a difference to be honest. Feels like a little upgrade I didn’t know I needed!

You can see from the rust on the point of the seal I'm holding how, as they get brittle, they start rubbing against the paintwork, eventually wearing through to the metal every time the roof opens and closes. A quick clean-up and a bit of touch-up paint was required.

It might be worth popping yours off and checking for corrosion.

Fed up with grey washer jets I splashed out on some new ones. Easy enough to fit once I worked out that there is a locking ring around the pipe connector. Lost a couple of plastic holders for the under bonnet sound insulation into the bargain but all good now.

Not today but I swapped out the salmon relays for replacements from Sytner BMW in Sheffield - the ones on the car were the originals from 2012 :o

Also not today (I'm playing catch-up) but I fitted the 3D printed cup holder I bought via Ebay from another forum member. Been using it a few weeks now and very impressed

Personally I like how it looks OEM and utilises the existing fixings for the storage net

Do you not find it’s intrusive when driving?

I couldn’t get on with the bigger unit and sent it back..

Definitely glad I got the smaller one of the two, and tbh I’ve had a cheap freestanding screen perched on top of the dash for about a year so this is actually giving me much more of a view

That said, I’m yet to actually drive with it yet so we shall see…
