My 224M wheels are looking a little tired, so looking to get them refurbed asap.
At the moment they are the original silver colour.
Have been considering going metallic grey or gunmetal, but wondering if something else might work...?

The silver has to be Hyper Silver in my opinion!

My preference in order
Silver
Grey
Gold

Black
Black car means no black wheels in my opinion.

Silver ones gives them a clean OEM look… In my opinion golden wheels devalue the car. So if you are going to sell it one day it might becomes an issue.

Here are a few examples for you, these are just my opinions and its your car you should do what you like

Ive had gunmetal in a more matt colour and gloss. Unfortunately when I bought both my Ms they were already painted a grey as it's a popular thing to do, in theory its a great idea but in reality it just doesn't looks that great and it never looks clean apart from when youve just cleaned them. You also loose the shape of the wheel especially on a dark car. Couple of pics.

More matt

The car previously has shadow chrome, again not really my cup of tea but was quite popular

Last one shows the difference compared to silver OE CSLs which I think looks much better

Gloss

Unfortunately I dont have a pic of either of my Ms with silver 224s as im not a big fan of the style think the CSL double dish rear looks much more aggressive and suits the car.

Hope that helps!

Another colour for consideration is a light saturation of bronze... quite like that. Otherwise I would keep it silver and easier to sell on too as its OE

I voted for Gunmetal/Grey, but only because there was no Shadow Chrome option!

But it's your car so your choice.

Although FWIW I think Black would look terrible!

Had mine done the e89 and looked at grey but when OEM silver in the end - keep it original.

Black for just makes the wheel disappear and a decent set of wheels can make a car

i did like my black wheels on a sterling grey z4 - that worked pretty well i think. though i think a silver, grey or dark blue are the only body colours that can pull off black wheels.

Pretty unanimous for SILVER :D
And thanks for all the feedback, it has helped.

I do sort of agree... although i think its the right choice, something im my brain is nagging me that something different would be good, so a little torn between Silver & Grey
• Silver, or Metallic Grey, or a compromise Darker Silver (lighter metallic grey). :pinch:
• Black on Black i feel is a massive NO
• Gold / Bronze, maybe if it was a different wheel (maybe on a different car) but no

Im pretty competent with a rattle can, so What i think i am going to do is clean 1 wheel up and Spray it myself, soon, before Spring. See it in-situ / live with it, before making a final decision and forking out for them to be professionally Powder Coated. Ill be sure to post images back here (if i still haven't decided on BMW Silver.... :headbang:
