Z3 project...no going back now!

Shut that door! These modern spray booths are not what I thought they were. :D Glad you have got to this stage.

I think I well and truly lost that bet that you would have sold it in 6 months after starting. Well done for continuing even though your wife has kicked you out and you are now living in a barn

I pretty much live in my garage, which is fine by me. Just there has been nothing to do in it for weeks!

My car is all ready for paint.....finally.

That's great news.

There will be plenty to keep you busy in the garage when it comes back all shiny!

Looking forward to seeing the results, I imagine the real exitement and satisfying bit will be adding the shiny bits :)

Tim.

Yep, not looking forward to working on the car with that lovely shiny paint on it. I don't want to put masking tape on it for fear of the lacquer peeling away (it has happened to someone I know), so I will have to be soooo careful.
I am a bit 'ham-fisted' aswell which ain't gonna help with my fear.

Use a low-tack masking tape and you should be fine

Something like this should do the job

I have loads of 'frogtape', low tack and the green stuff.
My mate, who's lacquer peeled was also using low tack stuff, so anything makes me nervous!

Just wait . It`s not worth risking it . Can you imagine having to get it done again . Take a break away from it for a while . Patience is a virtue as they say . Just my opinion .

1356z4 is right Pondrew, bide your time. After all the work you’ve done and the time it’s taken, what’s a few more weeks.

Missing the good weather, that's what. I have done 90% of the work so far in a freezing garage, I would like to do some in the warm! :)

Yes, I see now. Still, waiting a little bit might not hurt. As you say "All good things etc" :)

While still waiting to get my car back, I have spent the last two days connecting and extending my new dashboard wiring.
The idea is to extend everything to a place (under the dash) where it can be connected with bullets. This is because all the gauges are mounted from behind, so you can't just pull anything out and disconnect it!
So if and when the dash needs to come out, I can disconnect everything and pull the dash with everything in situ.
All gauges are now pre-wired with everything waiting to be connected to the car loom.
Just to keep me sane (there are a LOT of wires) I connected up all the gauge lights as it looks pretty!
I also have a 'magic clock' (!). The 'button' to advance the time isn't a button, it doesn't move. It relies on a circuit being made to earth via your finger. If you touch it, and are earthed, it advances!! I have no idea how but it does! Magic.

PAINTED!
And yes it does look lovely in that colour (camera on my old phone doesn't pick it up well TBH).
Comes back Tuesday, then the hard work begins again!
