Yes seen that. They have 2 the same for sale, a red one and that one. They just changed the seats and steering wheels internally. Half a job!Zedebee said:Inspiration for you, Pondy. What’s possible with a Z3.

It’ll be great. You can be Ferris Bueller, almost, or his dad. I think that was a 275 California iirc.Pondrew said:Yes seen that. They have 2 the same for sale, a red one and that one. On another forum there are a few people 'building' 507 reps. Not my cuppa tea TBH.
My goal is for mine to look just like this one:
Still quite a way off TBH.

The Ferris Bueller car was a 250 GT California SWB, same as I am building. The cars in the film were also replicas, as the real ones are far too rare and valuable to be driven out of a window. Only 57 SWBs (with the covered headlights) were ever built by Fezza.Zedebee said:I think that was a 275 California iirc.

That is not a conversation we have on public forums where anyone can see it. Seriously, it really isn't. So no comment! :!:pvr said:Is there no patent protection on the original?

It has become a VERY secretive and covert world. Which makes it even harder to build one, as the information is not a click away!
I can buy any reg number I like as long as it's not newer than the car (2001). As for the metallic looking plates, not strictly kosha but don't think anyone's been thrown in jail for it.ronk said:Will you be allowed to put a period plate on the completed car?
Yes a 1960s plate is desirable.ronk said:A period plate would in my opinion look better!
I suppose the car will have to be inspected for build quality and i wonder if something such as that may be spotted ?

I was thinking of PiMP (Pond's Money Pit).enuff_zed said:Go on, call it a Pond Bug.
