Z4 E85 N52B25 performance upgrade

Hi ,

Some of you may know me from the Z4 forum on facebook.

I own a custom Z4 E85 facelift N52B25 I know the performance is already great from stock but are there any possibilities of a supercharger ?

I communicated with ESS and they have a kit but dont have a soft and after 2 years probably getting nowhere .

Stock power is 177 HP now I have 255 HP since the engine basis is exactly the same asN52B25 in E89. I think except shrink camshaft ( which I dont want to use ) there are no more possibilities to upgrade the engine :) There are no injectors the engine is too "weak" for a turbo the intake is great exhaust is completely custom made and the dyno tuning is made for the max limit .

I looked at the 3liter biturbo engine and there is a good chance that it may fit but there are a million problems connected with it and I think that wont work or if it does it will cost a price of an M .

I dont want to sell it the money and time invested is far beyond the level where selling would be a good idea :D

Any suggestions ?

Nothing got lost in translation :) as I wrote the engine is the same as in E89 the only difference is intake soft and manifold if you channge the exhaust intake and let it get tunned on a dyno you have 160kw as the E89 . Heres the dyno run not everything is on video - max power measured on 4th gear 254,8 PS / 187,4 Kw 273,6 Nm . You have the diagram from the dyno on my facebook fan page :) facebbok.com/bmWhiteZ4

255 ps isn't the same as BHP - 255 PS is about 250 BHP.
 
thanks for putting the videos here originally the limiter was about 6500 now 7010 :) LSD from quaife 365mm 8 piston front and 365mm 6 piston rear brakes . BC racing suspension etc a great car I must say :) but with 100 HP more it would be perfect for me

A guy I've been chatting with has charged his N52B25 and got great results. See his dyno.

So is yours the 3litre but just known in the states as the 2.5? That would explain a lot as your 3litre cars are restricted down to 170bhp whereas ours are 258/ 265 according to what model zed they’re fitted to :thumbsup:

I'm confused, the 2.5l N52 in the e89 makes about 201bhp so I can understand getting to that from 177bhp but another 55bhp from a software tune seems incredible for an NA engine?

I don’t think it’s 2.5litres, in the states they call the soft tuned 3litre a 2.5 (confusing eh?)
I think all that’s happened is the OP has had his restricted 3litre mapped to its natural output.
The version they get in the states has a single stage disa as opposed to our 3stage version. It’s hardware & software changes to get the missing mumbo back :thumbsup:

its a normal 2,5 liter :) but the N52 engine is the same as in E89 the M54 is different.

And there is no supercharger for the N52B25 only for the N52B30 :) I was thinking of swaping the 3,0 and making it custom aswell with a big supercharger :D


I never wrote it only soft there is a race exhaust custom made a race intake etc :) in europe the N52B25 in Z4E85 has 130kw (mine) and the N52B25 in E89 Z4 has I think 160 kw
