After pulling off my favourite party trick of snapping a thread in half, this time one that holds the engine trim cover on, just want to confirm this does nothing other than hold the plastic vanity cover. Will repair it with a sleeve nut but want to double check it doesn't secretly have a more important role.

Was looking into replacing the part but not sure how I'd get it out, there's nothing really to grab onto and given the thread snapped I imagine it's stuck in good and proper

Give it a tap with a hammer to try and break it free as may have corrosion around it . Use a file /dremmel to flatten the sides off and then try a spanner / wrench . It may snap again but worth a try . Can`t remember what its like but you could cut the bobbin off to give you more access ??

its literally identical and symetrical, grab some vice grips around the top of that where the washer is glued to the rubber and turn anti clockwise, it will come loose.

Will give this a go tomorrow but since it didn't come loose when trying to undo the stuck bolt reckon it'll be steadfast
