In the G29 all, for different reasons at different times :tumbleweed:

Definitely Waze when I’m somewhere unfamiliar or abroad for the speed camera warnings.

I prefer Google Maps to Waze for routing and look and feel, but the speed-camera and other crowdsourced alerts in Waze are very useful.

I still maintain a fleet of ancient TomTom devices, one of which always comes with me on leisure drives, as I like to plan routes in advance and prefer directly side-loading pre-prepared route files from a PC rather than messing around on the cloud which newer devices force you to do.

Furthermore, nothing beats a 2007-12 era TomTom device for accurate 3D mapping of the road ahead, if like me you use your satnav as a 'co-pilot' when making progress.

Waze when driving the speed camera and other hazard alerts are very good

Google maps on a laptop or PC to look places up and plan a route (not when driving) bigger screen and easier to see the overall route detail

I’m glad it’s not just me who does that! Back in 2006, I worked in Portsmouth for a couple of months, but continued to live in London. That meant frequent late-light and early-morning blasts down the A3 in my Mk I Audi TT. Much of the street lighting outside of London was pretty woeful, so TomTom was invaluable as a co-pilot for predicting the upcoming terrain.
It long predated the Hindhead Tunnel, and I always used to enjoy the carousel at the Devil’s Punch Bowl in particular.

I use my old Tom Tom in the Z. I find it to be reliable and easy to use. Plus I have Billy Connolly giving the instructions. So it is entertaining too.
In the Daily I use the Sat Nav and Apple.

Am I missing something with Waze? Just used it for the first time and I had to manually input an address whereas the BMW sat nav and Google Maps I just speak to them. Is there a way of talking to Waze......?

And there's no Google Assistant showing in Waze Settings even though I use Google Assistant all the time..... I see I can turn the microphone icon in Waze on and then it listens but should I really need to do this?

I rarely use the BMW navigation, and then I do use use Maps, Google and WAZE regularly, I find the Maps to have the most accurate ETA of the three, but it's rerouting logic is flawed, however the best feature is that I can share my progress with other Apple users, so they can see where I am on my four hour weekly commute to work. I find Google great for routing around traffic issues, but I really like the cleanliness of WAZE.

Waze, but you do need to use common sense as sometimes the route goes through the narrowest of roads to miss 500 meters of main roads for unknown reasons. Coming out of the drive it also wants me to do a detour of a couple of miles when I can just cut that all out by turning left. Very odd.

Havn’t tried Waze, when there is a good signal I use CarPlay BUT it downloads maps as it progresses. if signal is poor car satnav is better, display on BMW system isn’t great but does get you there.

For just navigation, I find the BMW maps are fine but always switch to WAZE when I know where I am going. If I was the type that speeds then it would save me a lot of money and or points

That's my main criticism with Google, it only displays your speed whilst navigating. Oh and the other reason I like Maps, is that the map will display on the driver binnacle and with directional arrows on the HUD

Since Google bought waze, all the speed camera warnings etc are the same, aren't they?

Google does the job for me, although they missed the Latvian speed camera that caught me with a €25 fine....

I tend to use Apple Maps and a subscription service in Spain called Coyote for cameras etc which works all over Europe including in the UK.

WAZE also shows the speed cameras, even the mobile ones.

If only they updated the Waze alerts to always alert on the cameras not just when you are over the limit. Too easy to not get notified and just blip the accelerator before the camera and get caught as you don’t know it is there
